How the ingredient calculator works

Every row is calculated from nutrition per 100 g. The recipe total is divided by your chosen serving count, so changing the number of servings immediately changes the per-serving result without changing the whole recipe.

Using custom ingredients accurately

What the graphic explains

The donut converts protein and carbohydrate to 4 kcal per gram and fat to 9 kcal per gram. The ingredient bars show what drives the recipe's energy, while the recommendation cards react to protein, fibre, fat and ingredient quality.

Food quality is not one number

A high-calorie recipe is not automatically unhealthy, and a low-calorie recipe is not automatically balanced. The tool therefore shows energy, macros, fibre and practical ingredient swaps instead of assigning a moral label to food.

Should ingredients be entered raw or cooked?
Use nutrition data that matches the state you weighed. Water loss during cooking changes weight and concentration, so mixing raw and cooked entries reduces accuracy.
How do I account for cooking oil left in the pan?
The exact absorbed amount is hard to know. Enter the amount likely consumed or use a conservative estimate and note the uncertainty.
Why does the recipe total change after cooking?
Water can evaporate or be absorbed, changing weight per serving even when total recipe calories stay similar. Added or discarded cooking fat and drained liquids can also change the true total.
